Galileo Figaro is the young, passionate, and rebellious hero of We Will Rock You, tasked with restoring rock music to a dystopian world where individuality and creativity have been suppressed. He is in his late teens or mid-30s, full of youthful energy, and driven by a vision of a better world. As a character, Galileo grows from a dreamer to a determined leader, with his journey symbolizing hope, change, and the power of music. The actor playing Galileo needs a strong tenor voice, excellent rock vocals, and the ability to portray both innocence and strength.

Scaramouche is a sharp-witted, rebellious, and strong-willed character who becomes one of the central figures in the Bohemian rebellion. She is in her late teens to mid-20s and is defined by her sarcasm, independence, and journey toward discovering her own voice and purpose. Her relationship with Galileo evolves from initial scepticism to deep emotional connection, and she plays a key role in the eventual overthrow of the oppressive regime. The actor portraying Scaramouche should have a strong mezzo-soprano voice, a bold presence, and the ability to portray both vulnerability and strength.

Killer Queen is the powerful and manipulative antagonist of We Will Rock You, portrayed as a confident, ruthless, and seductive leader of the totalitarian regime. She is typically in her late 30s to 50s, exuding authority and control. Her character is defined by her intelligence, charisma, and absolute determination to suppress individuality and rock music. She is a commanding figure with a vocal style that blends strength and allure. Killer Queen’s role in the story is crucial as she embodies the oppressive force that the Bohemians, led by Galileo and Scaramouche, must overthrow. The performer playing Killer Queen should have a commanding presence, a strong mezzo-soprano voice, and the ability to switch between seductive charm and menacing authority.

Khashoggi As the enforcer of the regime, Khashoggi’s movements should be calculated and precise. He is not as flamboyant as Killer Queen but carries himself with a certain arrogance and confidence that shows his belief in his power. He should be able to convey menace through both his physicality and voice.

Buddy is a supportive, wise, and experienced member of the Bohemian rebellion in We Will Rock You. In his 50s, he provides the experience and perspective that the younger characters need in their fight to restore rock music and individuality in a dystopian world. While not a central protagonist, Buddy’s steady and grounded presence is crucial to the Bohemians’ success. He acts as a mentor, especially to Galileo, and helps steer the rebellion toward its ultimate victory. The performer playing Buddy should have a strong vocal presence, a mature and dependable stage presence, and the ability to bring both depth and warmth to the character.

Brit represents the conformist, robotic youth of the dystopian society controlled by Globalsoft. His vocal range would generally be baritone or tenor. Brit doesn’t undergo as drastic a transformation as some of the other characters but plays an important part in highlighting the contrast between the oppressive society and the Bohemian rebellion. He serves as a reminder of the societal control that the protagonists are fighting against. He is killed at the end of Act one.

Oz is a young, energetic, and rebellious character in We Will Rock You, she is a passionate member of the Bohemian rebellion, supporting characters like Galileo and Scaramouche in their mission to restore rock music and individuality in a dystopian world controlled by the Killer Queen. With a mezzo-soprano vocal range, she brings energy and optimism to the rebellion, contributing to powerful ensemble numbers. Oz’s character serves as a symbol of youthful defiance, hope, and the vitality of rock music. While her arc may not be as pronounced as some of the main characters, she plays a crucial role in the fight for freedom and individuality.
