WORCESTER Operatic and Dramatic Society (WODS) is proud to announce that it has been nominated for three prestigious awards at a ceremony which honours regional theatre.

WODS has been nominated by the local region of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) for the Best Musical Award for its production of Oklahoma! performed in April, 2019, at Worcester’s Swan Theatre. The society’s youth group – WODYS – is in line for the Best Youth Award for Back To The 80’s, also performed at the Swan, in July/August, 2019, and WODS poster for the 2019 Autumn show, Singin’ in the Rain, has been nominated for the Regional (District 10) Poster Competition.

Society president, Ann Hasnip, said: “I am so proud. We have so many talented members both onstage and back stage in both groups and have won NODA awards for previous shows with both groups. Congratulations and good luck to everyone involved in all three categories.”

The awards will be presented on Sunday, May 10 at NODA’s 4th Regional Conference Award’s Ceremony in Warwick.

Youth group chairman, producer, director and co-founder David Humphries said: “I feel privileged to be a member of a society who has so many talented members and to be able to coach our youth group is a real honour. Many WODYS members have gone on to appear in WODS shows. My thanks go to our vast team volunteers who enable us to produce and advertise all our productions.”
